Welcome to Shambles Workshop

Piano Bar

A finished commissioned piano bar!

This piece has been in with us for longer than intended and emphasises the difficulty during lockdown and travel restrictions.

While able to do a lot initially it went on hold waiting for a piano tuner to come in to remove the strings, as this date kept getting pushed back I researched it and the importance of releasing the tension equally across the harp and removed them myself.

Once removed this allowed us to paint the harp, install the led lighting and complete the transformation.

Finally the piano was repolished from top to bottom to revitalise the stunning woodwork and as it is a sentimental piece my emphasis was to keep it as close to the piano the family know.

A stressful but very rewarding build.

Our customer had this to say...

"This was my great aunt’s piano, which features heavily in many memories of time spent in her house in Dublin. It never ever sounded good, but we enjoyed playing it anyway! When she passed away a few years ago we couldn’t see it go, so it was brought north and has finally found its new purpose as a drinks cabinet at my parents’ house, thanks to the mighty skills of Jon at Shambles Workshop. Amazing work, Jon, you’ve worked so hard and put a huge amount of heart into the job!"
